An Invitation to Be Part of Our Next Chapter
We are excited to share what God is doing in our school and ministry, and we would love for you to be part of what comes next!
Two years ago, our preschool officially became Colegio Manos de Gracia as we registered with the Education Department of Guatemala.
This was an exciting milestone in our journey. Last year, we continued to grow by adding our third classroom and welcoming another teacher to our team.
We are grateful for this growth, but with growth comes new challenges—especially the need for more space.
Last year, we moved our four-year-old students into what was originally our storage room. Of course, we emptied it first! However, it is a very small space, which limits the number of children we can welcome. We don’t want a lack of classroom space to prevent us from reaching more children and providing them with the educational opportunities they deserve.
To help address this immediate need, we are moving this classroom out of the storage area and into a temporary classroom. This will give us some additional room and allow us to better accommodate our students.
However, this is only a temporary solution. As our school and ministry continue to grow, we need additional space not only for our classrooms, but also for our afternoon tutoring program, Bible studies, and the training and classes we provide for mothers in our community.
We believe it is time to take the next step!
After much thought, planning, and prayer, we have decided to move forward with an exciting building project: adding a second level to our existing school and feeding center.
This expansion will provide:
- Six additional classrooms to accommodate more students.
- Separate restrooms for boys and girls.
- A dedicated storage room.
- A permanent stairway to the third floor, where our water tanks are located, eliminating the need to use an extension ladder.
More than additional rooms, this expansion represents additional opportunities to educate children, support families, and continue serving our community.
Our Building Project: Four Phases
To make this project manageable, we have divided the construction into four phases:
Phase 1 – Exterior Walls, Plumbing and Electrical Preparation
Construct the exterior block walls of the second story and complete the initial plumbing and electrical work.
Total Cost: $19,500
Phase 2 – Roofing
Install the roof to protect the new classrooms and provide a secure structure.
Phase 3 – Flooring and Windows
Install the classroom flooring and windows.
Phase 4 – Interior Construction and Finishing
Construct the interior walls with drywall, install doors and complete the plumbing and electrical installations.
Over the coming weeks, we will be developing detailed estimates for the remaining phases so that we can share the complete project budget with you.
